An AI news analysis tool to fight media bias by identifying misinformation
within articles and recommending opposing viewpoints–available as a mobile app and Chrome Extension
America is more divided than ever, and the media’s use of preference algorithms keeps us stuck in echo chambers. Tech
giants profit from polarization, showing us only what they think we want to see, while hiding diverse perspectives.
TIMIO is an AI-powered news app & extension that tears through these bubbles. Unlike other platforms, TIMIO delivers
the same feed to everyone—no algorithms. Our flagship AI model, Torch analyzes articles for bias, logic flaws, and
missing perspectives; while our 2nd model, Pivot finds opposing views to the article you’re reading instantly. It’s about time someone uses AI for good.
-App is free with Ads
-AI features requires subscription; $9.99 | $4.99 for students
-Partnerships with subscription newspapers to make 2nd subscription tier that includes a bundle of news subscriptions
Apple News: 19 million subscribers | $2.2 billion revenue
With just 1 million subscribers TIMIO would generate $100 million annually
Two years ago, I pitched TIMIO to my university, I didn’t win.
But I was so passionate about this cause I did it anyway, completely out of pocket. 6 months later I had an LLC and a
working MVP on the app stores.
Suddenly, SMU was a lot more happy to fund us. We’ve now raised over $28,000, most of it from SMU’s social impact lab.
There I met Isabella, she ran the due diligence team evaluating TIMIO She was so excited about TIMIO after evaluating us,
she was inspired to join the team as COO.
I met Amit at a AI event, he was similarly inspired and has built our Chrome Extension. We’ve spent most of our funding to
go through app dev. Launch is just around the corner, but we’re tight on funds. We need funding to run an amazing
campaign and develop changes based on user feedback.
Target tech-savvy audiences through university partnerships, LinkedIn, and social ads. Leverage influencer marketing for Gen-Z and AI events for professionals. Highlight transparency and anti-bias on social media. Get on AI newsletters and podcasts, many of them feature new startups every week. Get press coverage as TIMIO is a good cause.
Sold to private equity firms specializing in SaaS & AI. Preferably firms focused on impact investing, its important to me that we don’t hand TIMIO off to investors that won’t uphold its non-partisan values. Alternatively, acquisition by emerging news aggregators such as SmartNews or GroundNews to enhance their anti-bias & AI capabilities.
