ADMITnGO: the ultimate college prep game, transforming learning about the college going culture and democratizing access to higher education meeting global changes in workforce demand.
Elevator Pitch
There are many reasons that young people are not able to fully take advantage pursuing a college education. Some of the low hanging fruit?
1) They don’t know how to play the game (of getting into college)
AND 2) They are pre-occupied with other games. We teach them how to play the game ADMITnGO teaches the player unwittingly what it takes to navigate college access from grades and GPA to entrance exams, extra- curricular activities and more. And the best part is…they never knew what hit them. They are just playing video games. Which they would be doing anyway.
Startup Journey
My name is Laura Hayes, CEO of The Learning Bridge.
I was born into poverty. My parents believed that education was the way up and out. I adopted that belief and dedicated 35 years to serving in communities of need. Like many in urban communities I had no counseling or direction on how to get to and through college. Somehow I wondered through and figured it out on my own. I wanted to change that experience for today’s underrepresented youth. The Learning Bridge developed a computer game called ADMITnGo that is transformative on college going and persistence habits of underrepresented youth. We assembled a team including a NASA trained computer programmer, a world renowned graphic designer, an experienced UI/UX specialist and an astute data analyst. Our game is National Science Foundation SBIR grant winner has been validated through the NSF Beat the Odds Boot Camp and I-ICORP accelerator through a combined 140 customer interviews. We piloted our game in two urban school districts and have profoundly favorable results. We need financial support to commercialize our game. Additionally we will leverage every dollar that we raise as it will be matched by the National Science Foundation up to $1 million dollars.
